Get great enjoyment from the beautiful Panda Bears in Sichuan.

The Panda Bears are one of the world’s most treasured Asian animals.

They are so cute and cuddly!

These Pandas live in the Sanctuary at Chengdu.

The reason many people go to Chengdu is to see the Pandas.

Sichuan is the home of the Panda.

Many of the world’s Pandas are found in Sichuan - at the Chengdu Panda Bear Sanctuary and in large reserves in the mountains of Sichuan.

The Panda, along with the dragon, is a national symbol of China.

This magnificent Asian animal was revered in ancient China by Emperors and others alike.

Now, the Panda is much loved by people all over the world.

It was introduced to the West by a French Missionary in the mid 19th century.

However, it is only since the 1970s that Pandas have become more accessible to the rest of the world.

Now the Panda is a great attraction at some great zoos in the world – such as the San Diego Zoo and the Berlin Zoo.

The Panda is also used as an international sign of friendship.

In 2008 China gave two Pandas to Taiwan as an act of good will. They are on display at the Taipei Zoo from early 2009.

Two Pandas are also arrived in Adelaide Australia in 2009. They are the first Pandas in the Southern Hemisphere.

But nothing beats seeing the Pandas at the Panda Research Station in Chengdu.

You can see one or two in zoos throughout the world.

You can see dozens in big purpose built enclosures at the Chengdu Panda Research Station.

There are big ones, small ones, adults, babies and families.

You can see the bears walking, playing, eating and sleeping.

Many people from all over the world visit the sanctuary.

And many Chinese people do as well - and they have a great time.

I have visited the Panda Research station three times and never tired of it.

Have a look at my story about how I was able to do that.

I reckon that the Great Wall of China and the Panda are the enduring images of China.
