Know some Chinese History!

I saw a lot of Chinese history in and near Sichuan.

The Chinese are an ancient civilisation - more than five thousand years old.

In Sichuan you can see authentic old China and replicated old China.

There are buildings and temples from long ago. These are worth seeing for their historical value.

Then there are buildings that have been recently built in the old style as in the picture. Some people question their authenticity but I quite like them - they are clean, attractive and the craftmanship is as valid today as it was in the past.

The picture from Chongqing shows an old style building complete with red lanterns and Chinese masks - just like in ancient times.

Wherever I went, there were reminders of the past - monuments, museums, temples, tombs and constructions.

Knowing even the basics of the history of China will make your visit to China even more memorable.
