Pictures of China

I have taken many pictures of China while living there. China is a photographer's paradise with its rich history, diverse peoples and culture, mega-cities and beautiful ladscapes.

I recommend you carry your camera around wherever you go. You will get some amazing pictures.

The following pictures are some of the more unusual ones I have.

Chinese medicine I came across this interesting sign in a shop window in Chengdu. I have never seen anything like it in Australia!

But it does show the ingenuity of the Chinese people!

Chengdu is not exactly a place teeming with Westerners - in fact hardly any. This shop was in a little street out of the way so I would think hardly any Westerners would see this. So it is aimed at the local Chinese people.

Who knows what the medicine is but give it an exotic western flavour and it might even sell!

Chongqing Cable Car There is a cable car that goes across the Yangtze River from Chongqing south (Nanping) to the central business district (Jangbei).

Some days you get a beautiful bird's eye view of the River Yangzte and Chongqing.

But often it is foggy in Chongqing and when it is you cannot see much!

Chongqing Underground In 2008 this main road in Chongqing was dug up and there was a mighty hole.

China has modern machinery but also a huge army of labourers to do such work.

In 2009 the main road had been relaid but now there is a tunnel for the new underground from the Chongqing CBD to the south side.

Chinese people partying Chinese people love to party. Any excuse for a banquet or a get together where food and drink are plentiful.

And the noise gets louder and louder as people eat and drink more!

These Chinese people are enjoying themselves at a street party in Chongqing.

They also love to dress up!

Panda Bear Sign In China you will see many bilingual signs in Chinese and English.

The English is sometimes correct, sometimes incorrect, sometimes a little funny to Westerners but usually you can understand what is meant.

This sign is correct but tells in a very nice way to be quiet - not to disturb the Pandas.

Have a look at some of my other pictures!

Chinese Masks

I saw lots of Chinese masks in Chongqing and Sichuan. They are used for a variety of purposes from Sichuan opera to theatrical performances to changing the colour of one's skin.
