My Wonderful Chinese Guide in Xian!

Selina is a local Xian Guide whom I highly recommend.

She customises the itinery to your requirements. Her knowledge of Xian is outstanding and she makes your stay in Xian so much more informative and rewarding.

I found my Xian tour guide advertising on a Chinese online newspaper. I contacted this Xian travel guide by email.

I explained my requirements and she sent back a detailed itinery. An extract is as follows:

"Oct 3rd: Leave the hotel at 8:00 in the morning, We can first drive to the the Banpo remains museum, to visit a 6000years old village, which belongs to the matriarchal society of the the Neolithic Age. We'll spend about 45min in the museum. Then we will drive to the TerraCotta army, which located about 40km to the east of Xi'an. On the way to the warriors,we can stop in a Terracotta workshop for 20 minutes, to see the detailed making process of the terracotta warriors 2200 year ago,and get some imformation about the different hairstyle with different military ranks and take some funny photos with the terracotta.

Then we will visit the real Terracotta warriors, which is the 8th wonder of the world. we'll spend 2 or 3 hours in the Terracotta museum. About 1:00pm, we'll finish the terracotta museum, and drive to a local restaurant for lunch,after lunch you can also wisit the Huaqing hotspring palace, to see the bathing pool of the emperor and ladies 1300years ago. We'll spend 1 hour inside.

Then if you like ,we can also drive to the village to see some local Cave dwellings.Then we'll drive back to Xi'an city, about 5:30 we will arrived Xi'an, you can have a rest in the hotel.

In the evening, if you like, you can also enjoy a dumpling banquet(typical food in Xi'an), and enjoy the Tang dynasty music & dancing show, which was recommended since 1988."

Selina's plan was quite detailed but she proved to be quite flexible with times and what to see. I changed a few things which she was quite happy to do.

She met us at the airport and it was a delight to have her as our Chinese guide for three days.

Her English is excellent.

The places she showed us were absolutely interesting. We would not have seen them otherwise.

She showed us to the best dumpling restaurant in town and also a wonderful massage place.

Her knowledge and commentary was great - it added to my knowledge and enjoyment of Xian greatly.
